<p data-start="1151" data-end="1358">PBEM – <em data-start="1158" data-end="1174">Play by E-Mail</em> – wirkt heute wie ein Relikt.<br data-start="1204" data-end="1207" />Ein Überbleibsel aus einer Zeit, in der man Spiele nicht jederzeit fortsetzen konnte, in der Verbindungen langsam waren und Online-Server die Ausnahme.</p>
<p data-start="1360" data-end="1436">Doch PBEM entstand nicht aus Nostalgie.<br data-start="1399" data-end="1402" />Es entstand aus <strong data-start="1418" data-end="1435">Notwendigkeit</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="1438" data-end="1590">Wer strategische Spiele spielen wollte, ohne gleichzeitig am Rechner zu sitzen, brauchte eine andere Lösung. Eine, die Zeit zuließ. Abstand. Nachdenken.</p>
<p data-start="1592" data-end="1631">Und genau das machte PBEM so besonders.</p>

<p data-start="1698" data-end="1890">Kein Zeitdruck, kein Reaktionsspiel. Stattdessen Raum für Planung, Diplomatie, Zweifel. Entscheidungen wurden nicht getroffen, weil man schnell klicken musste – sondern weil man überzeugt war.</p>
<p data-start="1892" data-end="2107">Meine ersten echten PBEM-Erfahrungen sammelte ich mit Spielen wie <strong data-start="1958" data-end="1968">STARS!</strong>, <strong data-start="1970" data-end="1994">Space Empires I &amp; II</strong>, <strong data-start="1996" data-end="2026">Emperor of the Fading Suns</strong>, <strong data-start="2028" data-end="2038">M.A.X.</strong> und später – leider nur kurz – <strong data-start="2070" data-end="2106">Advanced Strategic Command (ASC)</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="2109" data-end="2171">Oft spielte man mit Freunden.<br data-start="2138" data-end="2141" />Nicht selten auch mit Fremden.</p>
<p data-start="2173" data-end="2258">Man kannte sich nicht – und trotzdem entstand eine Verbindung.<br data-start="2235" data-end="2238" />Über Entscheidungen.</p>

Was abgeschickt war, galt.</p>
<p data-start="2397" data-end="2442">Genau dadurch bekamen Entscheidungen Gewicht.</p>
<p data-start="2444" data-end="2566"><a href="https://www.brickania.de/spielmechanik/diplomatie-in-brickania-wie-politik-absprachen-verrat-die-welt-formen/">Diplomatie</a> war kein Nebenfeature, sondern notwendig.<br data-start="2496" data-end="2499" />Planung war wichtiger als Tempo.<br data-start="2531" data-end="2534" />Geduld wurde zur Spielkompetenz.</p>

<p data-start="2728" data-end="2926">Auf dem PC gab es davon nie besonders viele – aber einige prägende Titel wie <strong data-start="2805" data-end="2815">CivNet</strong>, <strong data-start="2817" data-end="2836">Civilization IV</strong> oder <strong data-start="2842" data-end="2854">Deadlock</strong> zeigten, dass Gleichzeitigkeit nicht zwangsläufig Hektik bedeuten muss.</p>
<p data-start="2928" data-end="3033">Trotzdem ging mit diesen Systemen oft etwas verloren:<br data-start="2981" data-end="2984" />der Abstand zwischen Entscheidung und Ausführung.</p>
<p data-start="3035" data-end="3128">PBEM hatte diesen Abstand bewusst eingebaut.<br data-start="3079" data-end="3082" />Und genau das ist es, was bis heute nachwirkt.</p>

<p data-start="3244" data-end="3368">Auf der Strategiekarte gibt es keine klassische Initiative.<br data-start="3303" data-end="3306" />Stattdessen wird der Startspieler von Runde zu Runde versetzt.</p>
<p data-start="3370" data-end="3520">Eine Runde entspricht einem Quartal.<br data-start="3406" data-end="3409" />Dieses Quartal besteht aus drei Monaten – und diese Monate werden nacheinander pro <a href="https://www.brickania.de/krieg-um-die-krone/fraktionen/">Spielerfraktion</a> abgehandelt.</p>
<p data-start="3522" data-end="3586">Nicht gleichzeitig.<br data-start="3541" data-end="3544" />Nicht hektisch.<br data-start="3559" data-end="3562" />Sondern nachvollziehbar.</p>
<p data-start="3588" data-end="3703">So entsteht kein Reaktionsspiel, sondern ein Prozess.<br data-start="3641" data-end="3644" />Entscheidungen greifen ineinander, ohne sich zu überlagern.</p>
<p data-start="3705" data-end="3747">Zeit wird wieder zu einem Teil des Spiels.</p>

<p data-start="3974" data-end="3999">Die Idee ist eine andere.</p>
